“As I mentioned to you at the conference, we had a life planning conversation with a new referral prospect. After hearing from them initially on the telephone, we learned they had a 23 year relationship with the same broker who was in the same office, in the same town. They also had a 23 year relationship with a mutual fund company. I was concerned these were relationships that were stable and unable to change.
They were very interested in having a financial plan done for their retirement. After spending the first hour talking about life planning issues and different questions that had nothing to do with investments, we moved into other areas and had a nice meeting. In conclusion, they decided they wanted to move all of their monies to us.
They told us, "We have never had a meeting like this nor have we been asked these kinds of questions". They were very impressed with us and felt comfortable moving all of their monies. We asked them why. It turned out they wanted somebody to know them and understand them as people…
They had no idea at all about our investment discipline or process. They just trusted us.
Keep up your good work.
